Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, in collaboration with Kyotango Municipal Yaei Hospital, which is known to have many elderly people over 100 years old, has set up a "Longevity / Regional Epidemiology Course" at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine to study factors such as longevity. We have also announced that we have set up a branch room for lectures in Yaei Hospital.
In Kyotango City, the number of elderly people aged 100 and over in the city is 78 (September 2015), which is 9 when converted to a population of 10, which is a large increase from 133 people nationwide and 48 people in Kyoto Prefecture. It is a longevity area that exceeds.In response to this situation, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and Yaei Hospital have decided to open a "Longevity / Regional Epidemiology Course" to jointly promote research activities related to longevity research, preventive medicine, and community medicine.
In this initiative, we will elucidate health and longevity factors, including the interaction between host factors with many longevity people and environmental factors including lifestyle habits in the Kyotango city area, and return the research results to the local community. The purpose is to create a "healthy and long-lived society".Kyotango City has decided to support Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine for a total of 3 million yen over three years in order to help clarify the factors of longevity. In order to further promote the city's health and longevity measures, we will set up a branch office in Yaei Hospital and conduct joint research.
