Reitaku University will start an online study abroad program in September 2020 in partnership with Southern Illinois University in the United States.
Reitaku University has decided to stop studying abroad after April 2020 in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection. There is no prospect of resumption yet. Therefore, in order to guarantee the independent learning of students who wish to study abroad and enrolled in Reitaku University, we have decided to add the "Community Engagement Program" as an alternative class to the courses of the enrollment regulations from 4 onwards.
The "Community Engagement Program" is a pseudo-overseas study abroad program that enables online interaction with local people by offering classes offered online by the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) at Southern Illinois University in the United States. ..Through interaction with guest speakers who are working on environmental issues and women's issues locally, we will learn about various issues facing the community, deepen their consideration, and discuss how to improve the local environment and people's lives. It is expected to be a valuable cultural exchange place where you can interact with people living in Southern Illinois and learn what social contribution is while you are in Japan.
Professor Shoju Chiba of the Faculty of Foreign Studies said, "Introducing an online study abroad program is" one of the efforts that does not stop learning. "We will continue to provide as much support as possible to students who feel that they have lost their place of learning because they could not study abroad due to the corona, and will continue to provide new places of learning. " He showed his intention to respond to his motivation to study.
