The University of Toyama Regional Cooperation Promotion Organization Regional Medical and Health Support Division conducted an additional survey of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Super Food Education School project, which was carried out as a collaborative project with the Toyama Prefectural Board of Education. He pointed out that there are three elements: the environmental element, the family environment element, and the child's own lifestyle.Although there are many studies on the effects of exercise habits on children's health, few studies focus on the home environment and social environment behind exercise habits, which is valuable data.

The survey targeted all 5 children from grades 1 to 6 attending five elementary schools in Takaoka City, and in January 2129, conducted a questionnaire on the socio-economic environment of homes and the lifestyles of parents and children.Of the 2016 patients (recovery rate 1%), 1987 were collected.

As a result of the analysis, the characteristics of children with "lack of exercise" are "no good friends", "media use for 2 hours or more", "mother's lifestyle is not good", and "less communication with parents". I understood.

In detail, as a result of statistical analysis considering other factors such as age and gender, the odds ratio (risk) for the lack of exercise of the child who "has no good friends" when the child who "has good friends" is used as the standard. Index) is 5.40. The odds ratio for lack of exercise for children who "use media for more than 2 hours" is 2 when based on children who are "less than 1.47 hours". The odds ratio for lack of exercise in children with "less communication with their parents" was 1.59 when based on children who "communicate frequently".

Regarding the lifestyles of parents, there are seven lifestyle habits: (7) Get proper sleep time (7-8 hours) (0) Do not smoke (3) Maintain proper weight (4) Do not drink excessively (5) Exercise regularly (6) Have breakfast Eat every morning ⑦ Do not snack. ”Evaluate the relationship with children's exercise habits, with 7 to XNUMX applicable items as "bad" lifestyle, XNUMX to XNUMX items as "normal", and XNUMX to XNUMX items as "good".Children tended to lack exercise when their parents' lifestyle was "bad."

In addition, the odds ratio for a child's lack of exercise in a "bad" family based on a "good" father's lifestyle is 1.28, and in a "bad" family based on a "good" mother's lifestyle. The odds ratio for the child's lack of exercise was 1.54.

According to this survey, there are three elements ((3) social environment element, (XNUMX) family environment element, and (XNUMX) child's own lifestyle element) in creating desirable exercise habits for children. It was clarified that there are some that are difficult to review by force alone, and some that can be reviewed, such as the lifestyle of parents and the lifestyle of children. In order to create a desirable lifestyle for children, not only health education for children but also health education for parents is necessary, and it is necessary to promote health education for children with the cooperation of local communities and schools.

* Children's "frequency of exercise" is evaluated on a four-point scale of "very well," "well," "doesn't," and "doesn't." And evaluated.Past studies by this research team have confirmed that the exercise habits of this question correlate with the estimated calories burned by the wristwatch-type activity recorder. In this survey, 4% of children were judged to be lacking in exercise.
