Atsushi Kaneko, Professor, Graduate School of Data Science, Yokohama City University, says that elderly people who are close to them and have abundant primary care for comprehensive medical care are more likely to be vaccinated against influenza. It was found in these studies.Kaneko and his colleagues believe that enhancing primary care will help improve the vaccination rate.

According to Yokohama City University, Lecturer Kaneko is the primary care for patients who visited 2018 general internal medicine, family medicine, and general medical departments nationwide from February to March 2 when he was a specially appointed assistant professor at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine. We conducted a questionnaire survey on the subject, and extracted and analyzed the responses of 3 elderly people aged 25 and over. The primary care scale used was JPCAT, which is common in Japan.

The vaccination rate of the subjects was 68% for influenza and 53.8% for pneumococcus, but when primary care was enhanced by one level, the percentage of vaccinated people increased 1 times for influenza and 1.19 times for pneumococcus. It was found that there is a positive correlation between the implementation of vaccination and the enhancement of primary care.

The inoculation rate of elderly people who have been vaccinated against influenza and pneumococcus by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is only 50.2% for influenza and 37.8% for pneumococcus, which is not yet sufficient.Previous studies have shown a positive correlation between vaccination and cancer screening in children and enhanced primary care, but have not investigated the relationship with vaccination in the elderly. ..
