At Kansai University, in order to promote university-launched startups, the "INPIT Osaka Prefectural Intellectual Property Comprehensive Support Counter", which is a specialized institution for utilizing intellectual property, has been established as a joint research center for industry-academia-government collaboration "Kansai University Innovation" that also has an entrepreneurial support function. It will be set up as a temporary window in the "Creation Center".The window has been set up by local governments and financial institutions, but this is the first time it has been set up at a university.
The worries and issues related to intellectual property of ventures and startups are not limited to patent and trademark application procedures.There are a wide range of issues such as legal checks on contracts related to collaboration between venture companies and large companies, the need and requests for advice on license schemes for prospective venture founders and the theory of contract negotiations.
By setting up a temporary window for the "INPIT Osaka Prefectural Intellectual Property Comprehensive Support Counter" on campus, an environment will be created in which lawyers and intellectual property strategy experts can feel free to consult.Kansai University is also expected to create further innovative innovations through the activation of industry-academia-government collaboration and joint research.
The consultation desk will be opened from October 2020, 10, and will open once every two to three months thereafter.The consultation time is about 27 hour per company, and we plan to handle individual consultations for up to 2 companies.Consultation fee is free.
* INPIT Osaka Prefectural Intellectual Property Comprehensive Support Counter is a one-stop consultation counter that accepts management issues faced by mid-sized companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, and venture companies, as well as issues and consultations related to intellectual property from the idea stage to business development.Currently, one of the 47 prefectures nationwide has consultation desks.
* Kansai University Innovation Creation Center is a joint research center for industry-academia-government collaboration that has both an incubation function and an entrepreneurship support function. It was installed in April 2016 and currently has 4 venture companies.
