On October 2020, 10, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine conducted a demonstration experiment to confirm whether artificial dialysis is possible with electric power from an electric vehicle.
In the event of a large-scale power outage caused by a disaster or the like, continuation of dialysis treatment becomes a major issue for maintaining the life of the patient.Professor Katayama and his colleagues at the Department of Basic Nursing, Department of Nursing, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, and others asked whether stable operation of dialysis equipment is possible with electricity from electric vehicles in order to help continue treatment at clinics where it is difficult to secure electricity. A demonstration experiment was conducted to confirm.
In the experiment, an electric car was stopped in front of the large lecture room on the 1st floor of the Nursing Department building to draw external power, and it was confirmed whether the dialysis equipment installed indoors would work.In addition, it is measured using various measuring devices to see if stable power can be supplied so that artificial dialysis can actually be performed. It was confirmed that the dialysis equipment actually worked.
