In 2020, classes and open campuses in the spring semester were switched online one after another to prevent infection with the new coronavirus infection.Toyo Gakuen University Faculty of Contemporary Management "Marketing Strategy / Project Management Seminar" (Associate Professor Kayoko Honjo) planned a "360 degree online campus tour" utilizing VR through online classes and realized it at the open campus in August.
The open campus of Toyo Gakuen University, which will be held in August 2020, will be a combination of online and advance reservation tours. Therefore, the students of the Honjo seminar came up with the idea of a "8 degree online campus tour" where even high school students who cannot come on the day can freely tour the university with 360 degree camera images using VR goggles.
In the spring semester when online classes began, in May, we invited Mr. Kosuke Tanabe, a popular creator called "Creator God" in the VR world, as an advisor to share information through online meetings and SNS. After giving a presentation to the university staff, the project, which was elaborated with attention to detail, such as putting a message to the examinees on the lid of the VR goggles, led to the release of the 5-degree VR project on the special page of the open campus.
The seminar student who participated in the project said, "I realized that I actually need a completely different ability from seeing and doing. The presentation to Mr. Kosuke Tanabe triggered the lack of information sharing among the members and the quality of the project. The turning point was that I noticed the lowness. I learned that "I re-partitioned the way of planning, such as clarifying the division of roles of the members" and "The VR goggles I planned are in the hands of the actual examinees. I was really impressed when I heard that, "I was relieved to hear that high school students were the key to knowing our university."
Regarding online seminar activities, "Online has the aspect of being able to use time more effectively. It has become easier to carry out voluntary activities outside the seminar hours, and the number of members who take the initiative has increased. I would like to proceed with the project efficiently while properly combining online and online. "
At the Honjo Seminar, we emphasize project management education that produces results within the deadline while planning and implementing unprecedented projects.Even after the fall semester, we are planning projects using drones and 360-degree cameras that are unique to college students who are digital natives.
