 The "Future Doctoral 3-minute Competition" is a speech contest in which late-doctoral students convey their research vision and appeal in an easy-to-understand manner within the limited time of 3 minutes.The purpose is to improve one's own communication skills and appeal through the competition, and to spread the understanding of doctoral human resources and doctoral research in society.

 Since 2015, it has been held every year with the cooperation of national, public and private universities in western Japan, mainly in the Chugoku-Shikoku region, and many companies and public institutions. It was expanded to the doctoral students enrolled in domestic universities and held online.

 There were 24 entries from 62 national, public and private universities in the competition, of which 12 doctoral students belonging to 20 universities were selected as finalists by video screening.At the final stage, he talked about his research vision and charm in an easy-to-understand manner with one slide and 1 minutes of time, which aroused the intellectual curiosity of the audience.This time, as it was held online, it was possible to participate from all over the world, and on the day of the event, a total of about 3 people from 14 countries around the world participated as an audience.

 As a result of the examination, the highest award in the Japanese category was "Unraveling the mystery of batteries using light! -Toward a perfect battery-" by Mr. Kouki Yamada of Yamaguchi University.The highest award in the English category was "Cheesy epidemiology: studying the biodiversity-disease relationship in Bornean primates" by Kenneth Keuk of Kyoto University.
