Osaka Prefecture University is an "improvised English debate method (parliamentary debate)" by Assistant Professor Tomoaki Nakagawa of the Graduate School of Engineering, which was adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "28 Research and Research Project for Comprehensive Teacher Ability Improvement". The project related to the teacher training program using "" was started in May 2016.

 Currently, English education at school is gaining momentum for methods that emphasize "active learning" in order to train comprehensive skills.The purpose of the project adopted this time is to acquire the ability of teachers to improvise and debate English through the training program, and to acquire the method of teaching students.

The "improvisational English debate method" is a public speech-type debate in which one topic is divided into affirmative and negative, and each team persuades a third party.After a short preparation time of about 15 to 30 minutes after the topic is announced, the debate will start.Participants cannot choose between affirmative and negative, and sometimes have to consider claims from a different perspective than their own.

Osaka Prefecture University is promoting a cross-disciplinary collaborative project to conduct research across research fields, and Assistant Professor Nakagawa's research on "improvised English debate method" is also one of the interdisciplinary collaborative projects adopted in June 2015. ..Humanities and science and engineering personnel are collaborating to study the construction of an evaluation system for a new educational method, the "improvised English debate method."Professor Nakagawa has introduced the "improvised English debate method" to more than 6 high schools, and his achievements have been highly evaluated, and it has been adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

From July 2016, training is planned in Osaka, Chiba, and Okinawa prefectures.The target is high school teachers, but if there is a desire for elementary and middle school teachers to participate, we will accept it.
