Osaka City University and Osaka Customs have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. It is said that this is the first cooperation agreement between a university and customs in Japan. The aim is to contribute to the development of the local community by exchanging human and intellectual resources, but the relationship between Godai Tomoatsu, who became famous in NHK's serial drama "Asa ga Kita", also supported the conclusion of the agreement. ..

According to Osaka City University, Godai was a businessman in the early Meiji era and was the first customs director of Osaka Customs. It is known that he helped rebuild the Osaka economy as a major figure in the Osaka business world and made efforts to establish the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (predecessor of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry). I am deeply involved.Focusing on this history, Osaka Customs proposed to the university to conclude a comprehensive cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony of the agreement was held at the Sugimoto campus in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka, and after Tetsuo Arakawa and Kazuo Katayama, the customs director, signed the agreement, they shook hands in front of the statue of Godai on the university campus.

Osaka City University and Osaka Customs are planning to interact and collaborate in a wide range of areas such as joint research, human resource development, and community contribution. From October, Osaka Customs officials will give a lecture on the tariff system and the International Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).In the joint research, Osaka City University will analyze the trade statistics compiled by Osaka Customs and provide them to SMEs and economic organizations.
