Sophia Gakuin, a school corporation that operates Sophia University, will start construction of "Sophia University Building No. 6", which will be a three-story wooden building on the east side of Building No. 3 (Sophia Tower). It is scheduled to be completed in April 15 with the aim of starting service in June 2022.
Sophia University Building No. 15 is a three-story wooden building that has a low environmental impact and can be expected to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.The appearance of the lattice, which is made by crossing woods of different thicknesses, expresses "diversity," "interaction with others," "truth," and "tradition," which are linked to the founding philosophy of Sophia University.We will actively use wood for the interior to create a warm and comfortable space.It will contribute to the construction of the circulation of forest resources and will be used as a base for adult education and regional exchange as a sustainable landmark in the region.
On the first floor, we have opened a cafe that can be used by people other than those involved in the university, and a disaster prevention warehouse that can be used by local residents.As a facility that is conscious of the connection with the community, it contributes to the creation of a vibrant city. Classrooms that can accommodate about 1 people (both can accommodate about 2 people) will be placed on the 3nd and 60rd floors.Taking advantage of its easy access and location that can be operated independently from the campus, it will also be used as a venue for various events and public lectures, including nights and holidays.
Sophia Gakuin is engaged in various activities such as ESG investment and introduction of 100% renewable energy to achieve the SDGs in order to develop a sustainable society and protect human dignity.
