At Shibaura Institute of Technology, we are working to improve the quality of lessons using online in collaboration with teaching profession (teachers, staff, students). This time, the initiative was introduced on the website of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as one of the examples of the university's ingenuity to gain the understanding and conviction of students in the Corona disaster.

At Shibaura Institute of Technology, all classes are held online in the first semester of Corona. In the latter half of the year, about 3% of the lessons were face-to-face, and new lesson styles that used both face-to-face and online, such as "hybrid lessons" and "blended learning" that utilized online, were constructed in collaboration with teaching professions.

In order to build higher quality online lessons, we held a total of 2020 study groups from April to December 4.The faculty and staff, including part-time instructors and staff who support the lessons across departments, shared their knowledge for online lessons. In addition, we will listen to the voices of students from student questionnaires conducted by the Student Autonomy Association and opinions of opinion exchange meetings between universities and student groups, how to conduct reversal lessons, how to evaluate learning outcomes in distance lessons, online. After discussing themes such as PBL (project-based learning), how to operate the laboratory, and rational consideration for students with disabilities, we decided on the course opening policy for the second semester.

In a large-scale PBL (problem-solving) class with 15 teachers and 500 students, 3 large classrooms, 46 small rooms for discussion, and a mechanism for collaborative work by teachers are all on the cloud. We built it and conducted everything from class preparation to presentations and grade evaluation online.

In the future, in addition to increasing the proportion of blended learning that utilizes online such as flipped classrooms to improve the understanding of lessons (especially lecture subjects), hybrid lessons that combine face-to-face lessons and online lessons will be held.In addition, we will actively utilize online tools for education not only in "Corona Sorrow" but also in "Post-Corona" to ensure the quality of education and learning outcomes.

* The website of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology introduces the efforts of 13 national, public and private universities nationwide, including Shibaura Institute of Technology, as an example of university ingenuity to gain the understanding and conviction of students in the Corona disaster.
