The development of a long-range wireless run system using radio waves for robots, which is being promoted by Associate Professor Yasushi Haneda of the Faculty of Engineering, Kogakuin University, was selected for the 2016 policy issue-solving technology development open call for participants by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.Establish a communication system for civil engineering work in mountainous areas where mobile phones were not available and communication was difficult.
According to Kogakuin University, the title of the research and development project is "Development of a long-distance wireless run system that accelerates icon structuring (* 1)." We will build the world's first robot-only wireless run system using radio waves for robots, which will be available due to the revision of the Radio Law in August 2016.At large-scale civil engineering works and disaster recovery works in mountainous areas where mobile phone radio waves do not reach, it has been a problem that communication is not sufficient. If this system is put into practical use, it is expected to lead to improvements in construction safety, productivity, and construction quality.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will grant a maximum of 2 million yen (up to 4,500 million yen per year) for research funds for up to two years. In FY2,700, 2016 new projects and 4 continuing projects were adopted, including Associate Professor Haneda.
