Until now, although Yokohama was a cultural city, there was no university campus in the center of Yokohama.However, in April 2021, Kanagawa University will open the Minatomirai (MM) campus, and in April 4, Kanto Gakuin University will open the Kannai campus one after another.
In addition to the concentration of companies, government offices, tourist facilities, etc., the MM / Kannai area in the center of Yokohama will be colored as a student district with a total of about 8,300 students from both universities in the future.Taking this opportunity, the two universities collaborated to further brand the educational city of Yokohama, and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement to develop various cooperation projects aimed at solving regional issues.
Both universities will contribute to the promotion of industry-academia collaboration in order to make the MM / Kannai area a cutting-edge area for open innovation, and promote the creation of a system where students can learn from companies, organizations, residents, etc. by making the area a living learning place. do.Furthermore, we will build a cooperative relationship in order to more actively tackle the issues of SDGs that both universities are responsible for as educational and research institutes.
Specifically, we will participate in information sharing (establishment of social cooperation hotline) in the Kanto Gakuin University Social Cooperation Center and Kanagawa University Social Cooperation Center establishment preparation room, and in the "Innovation City Yokohama Promotion Consortium (tentative name)" to be launched in the spring of 2021.
