Tokiwa University joined the United Nations Academic Impact in September 2019, and is working university-wide to solve various problems facing the international community in collaboration with higher education institutions and international organizations around the world. ..In particular, activities related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are named "Tokiwa de SDGs", and project courses will be offered from the fall semester of 9.In addition, four students from the Faculty of Policy Studies, Department of Business Administration, produced the "Tokiwa Children's Newspaper" and started activities to spread the SDGs to local elementary schools.

In Project Course C, which will be held in the fall semester of 2020, SDGs will be held under the title of "SDGs starting from everyday life" under the guidance of Professor Mayumi Tan of the Faculty of Policy Management, Associate Professor Kazuya Koseki of the Faculty of Human Sciences, and Assistant Professor Kevin M. McManus. After learning what it is, students started activities to change their behavior and spread it into the campus from their daily lives.

In this subject, we are working to spread the knowledge of SDGs, create leaflets to evoke actions, and disseminate them on Instagram to encourage participation. As part of the publication of the "Tokiwa Children's Newspaper," four seminar students from Professor Mayumi Tan created an introduction to the SDGs. In May 4, the first newspaper will be distributed to the 2021th to 5th grade children of nearby Joban Elementary School, Migawa Elementary School, and Umegaoka Elementary School.

In addition to explaining the SDGs, the first issue features SDGs Goal 1, "Giving High Quality Education to Everyone."Sports maker "Mizuno" is introducing "Mizuno Hexathlon", an exercise play program for children at an elementary school in Vietnam that has problems with physical education classes.

In the future, "Tokiwa Children's Newspaper" will be produced with different themes and distributed three times a year (May, September, January) so that children and parents will be interested in the SDGs.
