Rikkyo University (Toshima-ku, Tokyo, President Tomoya Yoshioka), in collaboration with Stanford University, has released content that summarizes the attractions of Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, which is the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Rikkyo University is implementing a project-based learning program called "Rikuzentakata Project" as a regular course conducted in English. It started as a pilot program in 2013 and became a regular course from 2014 with the aim of helping students to learn about the current situation in the disaster area and to contribute to the reconstruction support of Rikuzentakata City by sharing issues in reconstruction.Furthermore, since 2015, students from Stanford University have participated jointly.

In fiscal 2016, training centered on fieldwork for 9 nights and 5 days will be held from September 4th.Seven students from Rikkyo University and seven students from Stanford University tackled the task of "combining the charms of Rikuzentakata to create and disseminate content." At the post-training session held on September 5, videos, photo books, and web magazines created by the students were announced.Students from Stanford University came to Japan after learning about Rikuzentakata City and the Great East Japan Earthquake, and participated in pre-training, on-site training, and post-training.

The exchange between Rikkyo University and Rikuzentakata City was triggered by the "Forestry Experience Program" held in the city in 2003.After the Great East Japan Earthquake, the "Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Assistance Headquarters" was established in April 2011, the city was designated as a priority support area in May, and a cooperation and exchange agreement was signed in 4.Since then, more than 5 students have visited the city to this day, including student volunteers, exchange programs in the field of sports, and reconstruction support programs by undergraduate and international students. In the future, the company plans to establish a base that supports long-term exchanges by opening the "Rikuzentakata Satellite Campus," which was set as a medium- to long-term vision in October 2012.
