In order to respond to the diverse abilities and motivations of applicants, Setsunan University will introduce new selection methods for the 2026 comprehensive selection process for the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering (currently Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, name to be changed in April 2026), including an "Edge Finder" and "Lecture" method, as well as a "Special Women's Entrance Exam" for female applicants aiming to work in science, engineering or agricultural fields.
Setsunan University will introduce two new entrance exams, the "Edge Finder" and "Lecture," for the first selection of the A0 comprehensive entrance exam for the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering. These exams will not only measure basic academic ability, but will also evaluate the applicant's own creativity, motivation to learn, and enthusiasm for manufacturing.
The "Edge Finder" type utilizes the results of electrical and electronic circuits, programs, crafts, etc. (including failed works, but excluding unfinished products) that students have independently worked on in school classes, club activities, extracurricular activities, or even as hobbies, and actively showcases the desire to create something and the experience of trying it out. The "Lecture" type involves attending lectures on electricity and information, compiling a report outlining the lecture and opinions on the content, and evaluating comprehension and expression from multiple perspectives.
The "Comprehensive Selection Special Entrance Examination for Women" is a system aimed at female applicants who wish to freely choose their career path while valuing their own interests and goals. In order to enable female applicants who wish to play an active role in the fields of science, engineering, and agriculture to fully demonstrate their ambition, the selection process places emphasis on their interest in learning and future prospects. In addition, careful interviews are conducted to ask about past experiences and aspirations, promoting the acceptance of diverse students.
