On March 28th and 29th, 2026, the official event for the popular NHK TV program "Magical Remodeling Night," titled "Magical Remodeling Night THE MUSEUM IN KANSAI," will be held at the Osaka Institute of Technology Umeda Campus. The event, which was first held in Akihabara, Tokyo in the summer of 2025 to great acclaim, has been brought to Kansai due to overwhelming demand from fans of the program.
"The Night of Extreme Modification" is a competition held secretly in an abandoned warehouse late at night, where everyday items such as home appliances and toys are modified to create monstrous creations with their limits removed and battle it out. The program, which showcases the fascinating aspects of Japanese manufacturing and the relentless pursuit of innovation by engineers, has gained support from a wide range of audiences. "The Night of Extreme Modification THE MUSEUM IN KANSAI" will bring the same excitement as the program, showcasing the serious expressions of the participating engineers and the original ideas and technologies that make the impossible possible.
The thrilling demonstrations by the participating teams' monsters, which were a huge success in Akihabara, will be even more powerful with the addition of new teams that have appeared on the show. Responding to requests for "We want to see more!" and "We want to hear more!", the demonstration and explanation session will be extended to 90 minutes. While listening to commentary by announcer Takeshi Yano, a familiar face from the show, you can experience firsthand the unconventional skills of these devilish engineers, as well as the passion and bonds of the teams, which cannot be fully conveyed on the show.
This event aims to contribute to the development of engineers who will shape Japan's future by holding company information sessions and exhibiting company booths for young people aspiring to become engineers. Top engineers from teams featured on the program are also scheduled to participate. This will be a valuable opportunity to directly learn about cutting-edge technologies that are rarely encountered, the appeal of working for a company, and the depth of the engineering profession. Details on how to participate in the company information sessions will be announced on the Osaka Institute of Technology website and other official websites.
In addition, the event will feature an exhibition of robots from Osaka Institute of Technology that competed in the "NHK Student Robot Contest 2025," where students from all over Japan competed with their technology and ideas. There will also be an exhibition of the results of graduation research and projects undertaken by students of the Robotics & Design Engineering Department at Osaka Institute of Technology, an exhibition of the solar car that Osaka Institute of Technology made its debut and completed the "Trans-Australia Solar Car Race," and an exciting demonstration race of palm-sized Mini 4WD cars that showcase the technological capabilities and ingenuity cultivated by various manufacturing companies.
Tickets are available for various admission events and "Monster Demonstration & Explanation Lecture (with reserved seating)." The admission ticket does not grant entry to the "Monster Demonstration & Explanation Lecture." Please check the official website for details and important information regarding ticket sales.
