Meikai University (Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture) will launch the "Athletic Club Accounting Research Group" in April 2027, aiming to help students acquire the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification, one of the three most difficult national qualifications in Japan. In addition to a learning program linked to the Faculty of Economics courses, the club will have instructors who are currently practicing CPAs and have extensive teaching experience, providing practical guidance towards obtaining the qualification.
According to Meikai University, the instructors will be active certified public accountants with teaching experience at its sister school, Asahi University (Mizuho City, Gifu Prefecture). In addition to providing individualized instruction, the university will also build a free web support system to improve learning efficiency. Students who have passed the Level 1 or 2 Nissei Bookkeeping exams in high school and have passed the entrance examination designated by the university will be eligible for tuition fee waivers.
Prior to the launch of the Accounting Research Department, Meikai University, Asahi University, and the Japan Commercial Education Promotion Association have awarded "Hyper Accounting High School" certifications to 27 high schools and 5 commercial education organizations nationwide, and will cooperate in bookkeeping and accounting education.
Certified public accountants (CPAs) are nationally qualified professionals whose primary occupation is accounting audits (financial statement audits). While CPAs who conduct audits often belong to relatively large audit firms, consulting services such as providing accounting advice and planning, and proposing management strategies, have recently become increasingly important.
