Bunkyo University will introduce a new comprehensive selection process (basic academic ability test) for its entrance examinations starting in the 2027 academic year. The faculties that will implement this process are the Faculty of Letters, the Faculty of Information Science, and the Faculty of Health and Nutrition. Applications will be accepted from October 9th (Fri) to October 19th (Mon), 2026, and the examination will be held on November 21st (Sat). The results will be announced on December 1st (Tue).
The comprehensive selection process (basic academic ability test) was announced to be an entrance examination that evaluates the accumulation of daily classes and learning and emphasizes basic academic ability, and was planned to be judged based on document review and two or one subject from foreign language, Japanese language, and mathematics. However, following a notification from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology ("Guidelines for the Implementation of University Entrance Examinations in 2027"), an "interview" will be added to the process. In addition, for the foreign language test, it is possible to convert scores from external English proficiency tests designated by the university as the foreign language test score (deemed score).
The exam will be held by the Faculty of Letters, the Faculty of Information Science, and the Faculty of Health and Nutrition. The scope of the exam will cover foreign languages (English Communication I, English Communication II, Logic and Expression I), Japanese language (Modern Japanese, Language and Culture (texts from the modern era onward)), and mathematics (Mathematics I, Mathematics A). Selection will be based on document review, an interview, and either two or one subject from foreign language, Japanese language, and mathematics (this will vary depending on the faculty and department).
The examination venue can be selected from three campuses: Koshigaya Campus (Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture), Shonan Campus (Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture), and Tokyo Adachi Campus (Adachi Ward, Tokyo).
