Takasaki University of Commerce (Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture) has announced that it will revise its tuition fee refund system for students who withdraw from enrollment, targeting general selection, university entrance examination-based selection, and comprehensive selection (multiple application system) for the 2027 academic year. The aim is to reduce the financial burden on applicants and their guardians and create an environment where they can make informed decisions about their future.

At this university, the number of applicants for the "New Year's entrance exams," which are used by students applying to both national and public universities, including general entrance exams and selections utilizing the Common University Entrance Examination, has increased significantly. The number of applicants has risen to 1325, approximately seven times the number 10 years ago. This is attributed to the increasing number of students comparing and considering multiple universities, including national and public universities.

Previously, the entrance fee was not refundable upon withdrawal from enrollment. However, starting with the 2027 academic year entrance examinations, the amount refunded will be the amount paid at the time of enrollment minus a 5 yen administrative fee. For single-application entrance examinations such as school recommendation-based selection and comprehensive selection (exclusive application), the previous procedures will remain in place, as these are entrance examination systems where application and acceptance are based on the premise of enrollment at this university.

Furthermore, starting with the 2027 academic year entrance examinations, a system will be introduced to defer payment of entrance fees and first-semester tuition fees for candidates who are selected for the new higher education support system (pre-enrollment).
