On July 16, 2026, Sanjo City University held the "FY2026 Industry-Academia Collaboration Internship Mentor Training Workshop." The university conducts "industry-academia collaboration internships" at the sites of more than 190 companies, mainly in Tsubame-Sanjo, a world-leading hub for manufacturing technology. A total of 217 mentors and company representatives from 122 companies and 1 organization participated in the workshop, sharing guidance methods for accepting interns and exchanging information to ensure smooth internships with students.
Sanjo City University's industry-academia collaboration internship program is a practical education centered on Experience-Based Learning (EBL), where students actually visit companies and experience the fields of "planning," "development," and "production." By learning under the guidance of working professional mentors (instructors) at the company sites and deepening their practical experience, students aim to connect the theories they learn on campus with their practical experience and acquire professional skills. This industry-academia collaboration internship program was recognized with the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at the 8th Student-Selected Career Design Program Awards.
At the start of the training session, Mayor Takizawa of Sanjo City gave an opening address, expressing his expectations for regional human resource development through industry-academia collaboration. In addition, companies that will accept students in 2025 presented case studies of internships, sharing concrete examples of successful implementation. Following this, university representatives explained the outline of the internships and guidance methods, and then students participating in Industry-Academia Collaboration Internship I (2nd year), which will be conducted over two weeks at three companies, and Industry-Academia Collaboration Internship II (3rd year), which will be conducted over sixteen weeks at one company, met with their mentors.
Sanjo City University will continue to deepen its collaboration with companies and work to cultivate human resources who can immediately contribute to manufacturing sites.
