International exchange program "IEP" for students by students

In 2020, many universities were affected by the spread of the new coronavirus infection.Kansai Gaidai University was also forced to cancel the acceptance of international students and the dispatch of study abroad students in the fall semester.
Under such circumstances, the university launched its own international exchange program "Global Talent Development (GTD)" without giving up international exchange even in the case of Corona. There are three main bodies that promote GTD: Kansai Gaidai University, students, and partner universities.

Among them, the student-centered program "Intercultural Engagement Program (IEP)" is a program in which students from Kansai Gaidai University and international students form a team to plan and manage various events. Efforts are being made from a unique perspective unique to students, such as events that visit cities around the world remotely.
At IEP, teams are organized by theme such as "Project & Outreach", "Language & Culture Communication", and "Broadcasting".Multinational teams can face unexpected problems. However, the process of overcoming such issues is also regarded as an important learning opportunity, and the five powers of "Learning Outcomes" are "intercultural communication ability," "problem-solving ability," "creativity," and "utilization of ICT." Aiming to acquire "power" and "leadership".
At the events held, the "Japanese Tutoring Center", which teaches Japanese to international students, and the "Virtual Home Visit", a remote trip where you can experience your own hometown with images using the web conferencing system "Remo", are popular. In addition, a total of 2020 events were held during the year from the fall semester of 2021 to the spring semester of 300, such as discussing social issues and listening to the careers of graduates from Japan and overseas, with a total of about 4000 students participating. bottom. We also carry out collaboration projects with overseas partner universities.A workshop will be held with the participation of staff from the International Affairs Division of Hamburg University in Canada and the Career Center of Kansai Gaidai University to introduce the skills required in the global society and how IEP initiatives can be linked to one's career. ..In addition, we are planning with the University of Toronto, Canada, Xi'an International Studies University, and North China University of Technology.Kansai Gaidai University has agreements with 55 universities in 395 countries and regions around the world, and the ties are strong, and international exchanges that make use of this network are continuing even in Corona. Many students who participated said that it was a wonderful experience.Although there are difficulties in communication unique to online, at the same time, cross-cultural exchange and mutual understanding are possible online, and the students themselves realize that it will be very meaningful.
