"Social Studies" is established. The "Global" course was developed and reorganized, and the "International Communication Department" was newly established.

In the Department of Media and Sociology, we will train our ability to master individual media, analytical skills, and expressiveness in the rapid evolution of mass media and social media centered on the Internet.Nowadays, tools such as e-mail and LINE are used not only between family and friends but also for business exchanges, and various media are integrated into everyday life.In corporate advertising and public relations, not only mass media but also social media are used, and the way of communication is diversifying.

The aim of the Department of Media and Social Sciences is to accurately understand and explore the social environment surrounding the media these days, and a curriculum to realize this will be developed.Specifically, lecture courses and workshop courses (small-group training courses) will be offered to deepen understanding of the ideal way of advertising and public relations based on the characteristics of each media, the mechanism of information analysis, and the psychology of users. Will be done.

On the other hand, the Department of International Communication considers the modern society where globalization is advancing from the viewpoint of "movement / mobility" in which people, things, and things move across national borders.Nowadays, even if you live in Japan, you will meet people who have roots in different ways of thinking and customs.Through cross-cultural experiences and language courses, we will train our English proficiency and cross-cultural abilities to collaborate with people who grew up in different languages and cultures.

Specifically, in addition to having unique English courses in the 1st to 3rd years, we are developing a curriculum that allows students to learn a wide range of fields such as cross-cultural management, tourism business, and English and American literature. In the compulsory subject "Intercultural Understanding", language training and work experience will be provided in the Philippines, Taiwan, Canada, etc. (The curriculum will determine whether or not it can be implemented based on the status of the new coronavirus infection).

Students from two departments can take seminars and workshops in the other department depending on their interests.Students in the Department of Media and Social Sciences can subscribe to English literature at seminars, and students in the Department of International Communication can train their information analysis skills.

Develop the ability to accurately look at the current situation and analyze it in XNUMX years

One of the characteristics of the Faculty of Communication Studies as a whole is the emphasis on practical intelligence. The point is

[XNUMX] A curriculum with a high degree of freedom that emphasizes output
[XNUMX] Students are the main characters in small-group workshop subjects and "seminars"
[XNUMX] An environment where you can stimulate each other with a variety of students in subjects that span both departments

The above three points are mentioned, and the culmination of [XNUMX] is the graduation research.Regarding the information search ability, media literacy, evidence-based analysis ability, and presentation ability to convey the research content, which are necessary for completing the research, we will focus on the small-group seminars and workshop subjects listed in [XNUMX]. Practically train. As well as participating in student-led workshops and seminars, there are also many subjects that span both departments, so as shown in [XNUMX], we meet and stimulate various students who have slightly different interests in each department. You should be able to spend four years with each other.

Today's society is changing to one in which it is difficult to model the generation of parents, and students must seek a way of life in an unprecedented way. That is why it is necessary to have the ability to accurately look at and analyze the current situation, and as one of the methods, we will develop learning to think from a perspective that takes familiar "media" and "international" one step further in the new two department system. I will do it.

Through such learning, students have acquired the ability to independently open up the future without being at the mercy of changes in the world. After graduating, he is expected to play an active role in various occupations such as advertising, public relations / PR / marketing, publishing / editing, travel, hotels, airlines, and Internet services.
