COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) refers to an international, interactive learning method that connects universities in two or more countries online, and students work in teams to discuss and share common challenges.

 


 Kansai University was the first to introduce COIL in 2014. In 2018, the JPN-COIL Association was established with IIGE as the secretariat, and has been working as a window to promote COIL-type education in Japanese universities and exchanges between universities.The number of universities that have introduced COIL has increased to 2 over the past two years (as of April 49), partly because it has become difficult to study abroad due to the recent coronavirus pandemic.While listening to the needs and issues of each university, he will continue to propose new forms of international education in Japan.
