Miss Paris Gakuen, an educational corporation that operates Miss Paris Beauty College and Miss Paris Esthetic College, will open a “Beauty & Wellness Professional College” in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture next fiscal year. The aim is to develop professionals who can provide scientific evidence-based guidance on the diverse "beauty and health of mind and body" required in an aging society with a declining birthrate, and human resources who contribute to improving people's quality of life (QOL).Professional universities are obliged to provide 600 hours of on-site practical training for the purpose of training professionals, and to assign highly experienced practitioner teachers. Esthetic Miss Paris, Dandy House, Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic, Ash , TIPNESS, and hot yoga studio LAVA, we expect high-level education and research directly connected to the field. Before the opening of the university, we interviewed President Akemi Shimomura and President Kimiko Murofushi.

Train technicians who are active in a wide range of fields, including beauty, healing, and health promotion

——“Beauty & Wellness Professional College” will finally open next spring.

Shimomura It was in 2006 that I wanted to create a university, but first in 2008, I opened "Miss Paris Esthetic College Nagoya", and in 2010 I opened "Miss Paris Beauty College".This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Miss Paris Group.

Since we started our salon, we have wanted to provide services based on scientific theory. More than 30 years ago, I opened an esthetic school.I thought that amateurs should not touch the customer's precious body, and sometimes touch the heart, even though they do not understand the theory.

Over the last 10 years, I have noticed an increase in the number of customers who want to have fun conversations at salons, appreciate paintings, and feel enriched by being treated kindly.People say that they look better, feel better and are healthier, and are happy to be cared for. An increasing number of people want to live a fulfilling life with a high quality of life (QOL).In that case, it will be necessary to train therapists (technicians) who are highly skilled in beauty and health and who have counseling skills and knowledge of psychology. In other words, the time has come when education and research at universities are required.

At the Beauty & Wellness Professional College, we train "beauty and wellness professionals" to improve the quality of life of our customers. In addition to beauty and healing, we aim to produce engineers who can cover a wide range of fields such as health promotion, and leaders of new industries with high communication and management skills.

I want to contribute to the improvement of QOL by creating "Beauty & Wellness" as an academic field.

Murobushi At the same time as globalization, the declining birthrate and aging population are progressing at a tremendous speed.Under such circumstances, I have believed that it is extremely important for each and every one of us to be spiritually rich, beautiful, kind, and healthy.Professional colleges of beauty and wellness will not only be able to contribute to such a healthy and long-lived society, but will also be able to extend healthy life expectancy and contribute to the rebuilding of the medical economy.

Before opening the university, we discussed how to scientifically and academically define the terms "beauty" and "wellness."As a result, beauty is not just about being beautiful on the outside, but includes everything that makes you feel happy, such as coming into contact with beautiful things and behaving beautifully yourself.I also came to the idea that wellness is a concept that includes efforts to realize the desire to be healthy.Based on these ideas, we wanted to create a science-backed academic discipline of "Beauty & Wellness" that would help improve people's quality of life through education and practice.

The "beauty and wellness industry" is now starting to attract the attention of the world. In the future, I would like to establish a graduate school where students can further deepen their studies and studies, and produce pioneers and leaders in the field of beauty and wellness.

Detailed guidance through distinctive classes, practical training, and a class teacher system

——Please tell us about the characteristics of education.

Murobushi I believe that we have prepared a unique curriculum. In addition to cultivating excellent technicians such as therapists and estheticians, as the pamphlet states, "Learning unique to a professional university that enhances <human power x practical power x creativity>" We will have them acquire the necessary knowledge and insight related to basic medicine and mental problems.

Class subjects are divided into four subject groups: "basic subjects," "vocational specialized subjects," "development subjects," and "general subjects." A group of subjects for acquiring actual specialized skills and medical knowledge, a group of subjects for acquiring the ability to create new services, and a group of subjects for improving applied skills by synthesizing such knowledge and skills. I'm here.

The faculty members include teachers with a wealth of experience in education and research in various fields at Ochanomizu University, Juntendo University, Hosei University, etc., as well as researchers and executives at cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies. increase. It is a system that enables high-quality education and high-quality research that underpins education. We also ask salon owners and managers who are active in the industry to cooperate as skilled therapists.

Shimomura Regarding the number of teachers, according to the standards for establishment of the university, there are 35, but we have gathered 48 top-class teachers in the field. In the 600-hour “on-site practical training” that is a feature of a professional university, in addition to aesthetic training at Miss Paris Group and major beauty salons, instructor training at sports gyms, hot yoga training, etc.

Murobushi In the first class of the first year, "Introduction to Beauty & Wellness," the faculty members, including President Shimomura, will talk about "What is Beauty & Wellness?" in an omnibus format. We talk about the future prospects of each field and the possibilities of new industries based on each specialty, so I think it will be a reference for students to envision the future and increase their motivation to study and work.

Shimomura At our university, you can acquire more than 10 qualifications during your studies.Personally, I would like you to obtain a "Beauty Therapist" qualification, which is a certified advanced esthetician qualification that is standardized in the esthetic industry. I would like you to take on the challenge of acquiring qualifications such as advisors, as well as service etiquette tests and manicurist skill tests.

Murobushi We have a well-established guidance system, and in addition to having a high ratio of faculty members to the number of students, we also have a consultation desk for students. In addition, each class has 40 students and each class has a homeroom teacher, so students are able to interact with teachers on a daily basis and discuss student life and career options.

There are a wide variety of fields in which you can work, and you can expect to play an active role as a core member of society.

——What are your prospects for employment?

Shimomura Regarding the employment of graduates, I think that there are quite a lot of job openings, so I am not worried at all.Our vocational school trains people to work in esthetic salons, but I believe that our graduates will work in a wide range of fields related to beauty and health, such as not only esthetics and spas, but also sports gyms and health food and cosmetics companies. We also expect them to play an active role as core human resources in society, such as corporate product developers, facility managers, and entrepreneurs.
In fact, when we conducted a questionnaire survey on the executives of esthetic salons and spas asking, "What kind of training do you want staff to have?" I want you to wear it.”I was convinced that the qualities required were not only skills and manners, but I thought, ``That's right,'' and I was convinced that our university was a presence that society wanted.

Murobushi There are various industries related to beauty and health, such as esthetics, relaxation, spa, fitness sports, aroma, nail, and reflexology. will become human resources.
You will also learn about the risks involved when performing therapy. We will also learn about technology along with scientific evidence, and we will also train you to think for yourself, so I think that many facilities and companies will want you as a person who can deal with various problems.

Training room

Male students are also welcome, and in the future we will accept international students

——What kind of students do you want to enroll?

Shimomura First of all, the first thing is that the person himself is interested in beauty and wellness. We are a co-educational school and the beauty and wellness industry has great potential for men, so male students are also welcome.I think about XNUMX% of male technicians work in the aesthetic industry, but Miss Paris Group has a salon called Dandy House that specializes in men, and male estheticians have been working there for some time.
Also, currently there is not enough room to accept international students because of the limited number of students. I think they will also accept foreign students.

Murobushi Japan is a developed country with a declining birthrate and an aging society. There are many issues to be addressed, but I think the most pressing issue is to create a society where people can live healthy and happy lives.Human resources who contribute to the development of the beauty and wellness industry are indispensable to society in the future.I would like many people who have the desire to work hard for the health and happiness of others to aim for this university. We are waiting for you with all possible preparations, including the entrance examination system.
