From 2022, the high school curriculum (curriculum) and course of study will be revised. The way people learn in high school has changed, and “inquiry-based learning” can be said to be a major feature. In addition, the reorganization of subjects due to the revision will also change the subjects and scope of the academic ability test in the university entrance examination.

Chiba University of Commerce has decided to set up a new entrance exam and change some of the existing entrance exam methods so that high school students who have studied under the new curriculum from the 2024 entrance exam can demonstrate their abilities.
The university has been conducting various entrance examinations to evaluate not only academic ability but also high school life so that applicants can make the most of their individuality. There are three points in this change.

The first is the newly established “inquiry learning evaluation type” in the comprehensive selection of scholarship students.
Chiba University of Commerce believes that inquiry learning in high school has a high affinity with learning after entering university.
This is because, since its founding, the philosophy of practical education has been to produce human resources who can respond to the changing society.Elements emphasized in inquiry learning can also be seen in the admission policy.

[Chiba University of Commerce Admission Policy]
Students who are willing to learn knowledge and skills through specialized education and a wide range of liberal arts education to discover and solve various problems in the real world
●Students who are motivated to acquire independence, cooperation, and fairness through collaboration with diverse people in the real world and active learning
●Students who are motivated to acquire the ability to think, make judgments, express themselves, and develop ethics through these studies.

In considering the new entrance examination method, Chiba University of Commerce, while being aware of the revision of the course of study, returned to the image of students in the admission policy. As a result, we will evaluate not only the notable items such as club activities, qualifications, and presentation skills, but also the initiatives and results of “inquiry-based learning,” in which class improvements are being made to realize proactive, interactive, and deep learning. I found the need.It is an entrance examination that evaluates students' earnest approach to class in their daily learning.

Until now, other than the survey report, the approach to high school classes, which was difficult to grasp, has become an appealing point. is also expected to be enhanced.

Secondly, in the latter general selection, in addition to the normal selection method, the written comprehensive question is converted into a maximum score of 2 points (100 points multiplied by 40), "expression-oriented type".
In this method, the ability to decipher questions and express one's thoughts in sentences can be utilized in the entrance examination.By using the same subjects as regular exams, the aim is to select examinees who excel in expressiveness, which has been difficult to evaluate based on subject scores.

The third is the “general selection common test type XNUMX subjects in the first half and XNUMX subjects in the second half”, which adds “XNUMX subjects” to the conventional XNUMX subjects and XNUMX subjects in the common test for university entrance.
As it is now possible to select four subjects, examinees who have focused on a wide range of learning can demonstrate their abilities without narrowing them down.In particular, four subjects in the first semester are selected by scholarship students, and if they pass, the tuition fee will be reduced by half, which is attractive. We believe that we can meet the needs of applicants who choose Chiba University of Commerce as a school that applies to both national and public universities.
