Shimonoseki City University is one of the few national and public universities in Japan that has a single-faculty Faculty of Economics (Department of Economics, Department of International Commerce, Department of Public Management), and has developed while contributing to the creation of a rich local community. Approximately 1962 years have passed since the university was founded in 60, and the world is now in the midst of great change. Looking ahead to this new era, in order to meet the further expectations and needs of society, the university will establish a Faculty of Data Science in 2024 and a Faculty of Nursing in 2025, and take on the challenge of education and research in the new era as a comprehensive university.
