According to the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Associate Professor Kanamoto combined the consumption data of each household in the National Consumption Survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications with the carbon dioxide emission estimation model associated with the supply chain of 47 prefectures nationwide. It has released carbon dioxide emissions from about 6 households.

　The consumption of beef and pork, which has been shown to have high carbon dioxide emissions through food, was almost the same between households with high carbon dioxide emissions and households with low carbon dioxide emissions, but households with high carbon dioxide emissions were low. It was revealed that they consume 3.3 times more alcoholic beverages and 2.0 times more confectionery.Eating out at restaurants has also reached 2.0 times.

　Associate Professor Kanamoto believes that reducing the consumption of alcoholic beverages and confectionery and reducing eating out at restaurants will lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions at home through food.

　It has been pointed out that the consumption of meat such as beef, which requires a large amount of feed in the process of livestock, is affecting climate change, and it is said that it is necessary to change the diet of beef and pork to a diet centered on chicken and vegetables. It was not known whether this change in eating habits was important only for families who eat a lot of meat, or whether it was important for many families in common.
