KAICO Co., Ltd., a venture company from Kyushu University, has developed an antibody detection kit for the new coronavirus in collaboration with Protex, an antibody test service.Protex will soon start an antibody test service for corporations using this antibody detection kit.

According to KAICO, under the leadership of Professor Yoshihiro Kusakabe of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University, we succeeded in developing an antigen for the new corona spike protein trimer and confirmed that it binds to multiple antibodies.Based on this result, we developed an antibody detection kit in collaboration with Protex.

The antibody test service is performed by the antigen sandwich ELISA method using spike proteins recommended by the Japanese Society of Infectious Diseases, which is more sensitive than the general method and the test results are stable. The service is scheduled to start on the 12th.

The end date of the new corona is still unknown, but since the resumption and maintenance of economic activity has emerged as a major issue, it is important to understand the infection history of employees as an infection control measure in the workplace.Even when a vaccine is put into practical use in the future, if the presence or absence of antibody possession is known in advance, it will be possible to know who needs vaccination.

In the drug discovery market in recent years, protein preparations called biopharmacy have become the mainstream, and they are effective for diseases for which there is no therapeutic drug.Kyushu University is building a technology to produce a new biopharmaceutical protein at low cost using silk moth.
