A curriculum that makes theory and practice your own
The spirit of the founding of Tokyo University of Social Welfare is "integration of theory and practice."We require students to acquire the knowledge and theories they need to achieve their future goals, as well as the ability to put them into practice.
In the first year, we encourage students to plan how to spend their four years at university while being aware of their future goals through compulsory basic liberal arts exercises. In the usual curriculum, we actively introduce active learning in which students participate and develop in a two-way interactive manner. We aim to improve communication skills by gaining experience in group discussions.
In the specialized subjects from the second year, there are plenty of opportunities for exercises, practical skills, and on-site training according to the content.Students can turn the knowledge and theories they have learned in class into their own as a practically useful force through real-life experiences in the field.
Thorough backup by support offices in each field
In this way, Tokyo University of Social Welfare has a generous career support system in place to ensure that human resources who have both theoretical and practical skills are sent out to the fields required by society as immediate work force.
The Employment Support Office, which manages the huge amount of job information sent to the school, meets with all students individually from January of the third year to May of the fourth year.We will check the desired course and the status of job hunting, and consider the activity plan together. We also carry out mock interviews, correction of resumes, and support for visits to welfare facilities and companies. After graduation, we also visit the student's place of employment and provide after-sales follow-up such as consulting if there are any problems.
The Welfare Professional Support Office supports students who are aiming to break through the obstacles of national welfare qualifications, such as social workers, mental health workers, certified care workers, and childcare workers. In the 3rd and 4th year training exercises, the content of the questions is thoroughly analyzed, and the students are carefully individually instructed using carefully selected teaching materials.Since you can take a nationwide mock exam at the same school, you can quickly check your understanding and areas of weakness. We are always available for consultations from the planning stage for necessary welfare training, and we have a system in place so that students can attend the training with peace of mind.
On the other hand, the Teaching Course Support Office supports students who aim to pass the teacher employment exam in collaboration with the Faculty of Education. In the teacher employment examination special measures seminar that will be held from the third year, including interviews with individual students, trends and measures will be analyzed for each type of municipality or school that each student will take, and individual guidance will be given. In the teacher recruitment mock exam, which can be taken from the second year, we encourage you to quickly grasp the areas you are not good at and try to overcome them.In collaboration with Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Toshima Ward, Tokyo, and Kita Ward, where the school's campus is located, we have established a system that allows students who wish to become teachers to experience teaching assistance in the field of education as volunteers.
