Osamu Dazai, who studied at the former Hirosaki High School, one of the predecessors of Hirosaki University, presented his works to the world with a wealth of sensitivity toward his hometown, family, society, and art.
Among them, his novel "Tsugaru" (1944), which is famous as a mid-term fine, is woven based on Dazai's outstanding observational eyes and deep insight, and can be read as a regional geography and regional theory. ..
In commemoration of this achievement of Osamu Dazai, Hirosaki University has established-Hirosaki University Osamu Dazai Memorial "Tsugaru Award" -and will hold a regional exploration thesis high school student contest.
We are waiting for an ambitious essay full of originality that incorporates a perspective on the region and a perspective from the region that inherits Dazai's achievements.
