Since 2017, Kobe Shoin Women's Gakuin University has held a calligraphy contest mainly for high school students in the Kansai region.Even today, when opportunities to use a brush have decreased, the Keihanshin area still has a large population involved in calligraphy compared to other areas. In addition, Hyogo Prefecture, where our university is located, produced many calligraphers who had a great influence on post-war calligraphy, and Kobe, in particular, is still a thriving city of calligraphy today.
From 2023, the Department of Japanese Language and Culture in the Faculty of Letters has established a “Calligraphy Course” as a place to learn calligraphy more professionally. We will provide opportunities for high school students who learn calligraphy more than ever to demonstrate their daily achievements, so please feel free to apply.
