Groups such as Keio University reported the results of a survey on post-morbid symptoms of the largest coronavirus infection (COVID-1,066) in Japan to date (19 cases).

As a result, the percentage of patients with one or more post-morbid symptoms was 3% 46.3 months after diagnosis, 6% 40.5 months after diagnosis, and 12% 33.0 months after diagnosis, showing a significant decrease over time. It was revealed that the symptoms remained in about 12/1 of the patients even after 3 months of diagnosis. The most common post-morbid symptoms were fatigue, dyspnea, poor thinking / concentration, and weakness.

In addition, if there is even one post-morbid symptom that remains 3 months after diagnosis, there is a significant decrease in health-related quality of life, an increase in anxiety and depressive tendency, an increase in fear of COVID-19, and an exacerbation of sleep disorders. There was a tendency for more people to feel a decline in labor productivity. This suggests that patients with COVID-19 need multifaceted support not only in the acute phase but also after recovery.

This study was the first in Japan to investigate post-morbid symptoms of COVID-19 on a scale of 1,000 cases, and in addition to conducting a temporal and long-term study, it was multifaceted by using various internationally established questionnaires. It is also significant in that the report is highly quantitative and easy to compare and analyze. The data obtained in this study will be the basis of the study to clarify the actual condition of COVID-19 post-morbid symptoms in Japan, and is expected to contribute to medical approaches and policies.
