On November 2023, 11, Tokyo Institute of Technology signed a cooperation agreement with the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI).

 Over the past 50 years, Tokyo Institute of Technology has conducted numerous joint research projects with ITRI, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, in areas ranging from innovative materials to semiconductor-related technologies.Going forward, the two companies will advance their cooperation with a focus on the semiconductor, net-zero, biomedical, and startup support fields, leverage their cross-domain expertise, engage in joint research and development, and build a mutually complementary relationship.

 ITRI ​​Director Wen-hsiung Liu noted that Taiwan and Japan face many common challenges, including a lack of natural resources, frequent natural disasters, and an aging population. He said that they have many things in common, such as professional ethics, and that by complementing each other, both parties can benefit.

 Tokyo Institute of Technology President Kazuya Masu said he believes the agreement will expand collaborative projects between the two sides, including biomedical and start-up support, and will significantly strengthen their relationship.In addition, he expressed his hope that Tokyo Institute of Technology's human resources and facilities will be utilized to promote exchanges with Kokenin and to build a new successful model of innovation based on overseas collaboration.

 Tokyo Institute of Technology is scheduled to merge with Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2024 to become Tokyo University of Science.This makes the cooperative agreement between ITRI and Tokyo Institute of Technology even more significant.The cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two sides will expand from the semiconductor field to the medical biofield, not only promoting scientific and technological innovation, but also contributing to the development of science and technology industries in Taiwan and Japan.In the future, it is expected that cooperation will further deepen through technical seminars and the sharing of technical results.
