When the Big Data Analysis Project Team of the Welfare Bureau of Osaka City University was commissioned by the city of Osaka to analyze big data certified as requiring long-term care, it was found that the age at the time of new certification of a single resident is lower for men than for women. ..Males account for three times as many welfare recipients as newly certified solitary residents.

According to the Osaka City Welfare Bureau, the project team analyzed the status of certification for long-term care for 2007 years from April 4.The subjects were 10 men and 7 women, for a total of 8,026 people. The breakdown of solitary and non-solitary is 11 solitary and 8,114 non-solitary.

The age of the solitary person at the time of new certification is 75.7 years for men and 79.8 years for women. Many men and women who live alone receive welfare benefits at the time of new certification, with men accounting for 46.5% of all newly certified solitary people and women accounting for 15.4%.

The percentage of people living alone who have deteriorated cognitive function and living function at the time of new certification is lower than that of non-living people. The project team believes that it is possible that they have been certified as requiring long-term care because of their living needs, not because of functional deterioration.Compared to those who live alone, cognitive function was less likely to decline for both men and women, and there was a tendency for the degree of long-term care to be moderately severe and weakened. There was no significant difference in survival rate between living alone and not living alone.

The proportion of people living alone increased in the 10 years surveyed for both men and women. The percentage of men and women who receive home-visit long-term care and outpatient care is increasing, but men tend to use solitary people more than non-solitary people. The proportion of people with cognitive decline, moderately severe care recipients, and frail people is also on the rise.

Osaka is one of the ordinance-designated cities with many elderly people living alone, and the aging rate is projected to reach 2015% in 25.3 and rise to 2025% in 27.The percentage of single-person households of the elderly was 2015% in 42.4.It greatly exceeded the national average of 27.3%.The number of elderly people with cognitive decline was 2017 in 6, and the rate of increase in cognitively impaired elderly is higher than the rate of increase in the elderly population.
