Kyushu Ryukoku Junior College, operated by Saga Ryukoku Gakuen, decided to suspend student recruitment from 2024 onwards at the board of directors meeting held on January 1, 29. This will be the 2025th university to stop recruiting from 2025.

Kyushu Ryukoku Junior College began in Mizugae, Saga City in 1952 as the ``Saga Ryukoku Junior College Buddhist Department''. In 1985, the university moved to its current location in Murata-cho, Tosu City and changed its name to Kyushu Ryukoku Junior College, and has produced approximately 70 graduates over the past 9,000 years.

However, the number of junior college applicants has decreased sharply nationwide, and even Kyushu Ryukoku Junior College is regularly under-registered, resulting in difficult business conditions. Up until now, we have been focusing on reorganization to a four-year university, changes in departments and courses, and recruitment activities, but in particular, in light of the recent sharp decline in the number of applicants, we have carefully considered the following. We have decided to stop recruiting students for 2024 and beyond after the 2025 intake. As always, we will continue to do our best to provide education, career support, etc. to students enrolled in 2024 and current students.

In the Chikugo-Saga area, Kurume Shinai Junior College (Department of Food Design, Department of Early Childhood Education) will stop recruiting from 2022, and Kyushu Otani Junior College (Department of Welfare) will stop recruiting from 2023. There are currently three junior colleges in the area. Saga Women's Junior College will make the Department of Regional Studies co-educational from 3, and Asahi Gakuen, which operates it, will establish Takeo Asia University (Faculty of Modern Korean Studies, Faculty of Next Generation Education) in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture in April 2024 (tentative name). (planning for installation). In addition, Nishi-Kyushu University, which has a junior college department (Department of Community Life Support and Department of Early Childhood Care), will establish a new Faculty of Health Data Science in April 2026 (tentative name, establishment plans in progress). Kyushu Otani Junior College (Department of Expression Studies, Department of Early Childhood Education) will reorganize its courses from April 4.
