The Kyoritsu Women's University Museum is holding a special exhibition "Thoughts for Small Things-Children's Kimono-", which exhibits children's kimonos from the Edo period to the early Showa period and crafts related to children.The period is until July 2019, 7.
The special exhibition focuses on children's kimonos from the Edo period to the early Showa period, and also introduces adorable items that evoke memories of childhood.Children's kimonos are not only made small, but also sewn for their children or have the thoughts of the parents they chose, which can be seen in various aspects such as fabrics, tailoring methods, and patterns. Is also one of the attractions.Before the Edo period, when the living environment and the degree of scientific development were different from those of today, the exhibited works show that children and clothes had different feelings than they do today.
During the exhibition period, a quiz rally will be held and a commentary tag will be set up for preschoolers to elementary school students, created by museum trainees aiming to acquire curator qualifications.In addition, a gallery talk by the curator will be held on July 7rd.No prior application required.The exhibition is free to enter.
The Kyoritsu Women's University Museum was newly established in 130 to commemorate the 2016th anniversary of the founding of Kyoritsu Women's Academy, with the concept of "a museum where Japanese and Western meet".Japanese clothing materials and crafts, mainly kimono, and Western clothing materials and crafts are open to the public.The posters and leaflets of the Kyoritsu Women's University Museum are produced under the supervision of Associate Professor Yuko Tanaka of the Department of Architecture and Design, Faculty of Home Economics, under the supervision of an internship contract with students.
