Research groups from Azabu University, Anicom Advanced Medical Research Institute, Okayama University of Science, and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology have revealed that the intestinal flora of dogs changes with age.

It is said that the intestinal flora of dogs is closer to humans than that of mice, and because it is possible to align environmental factors and genetic factors by unifying the breed, breeding environment, and food, human intestinal bacteria. It is considered to be useful as an analysis model for flora.

In this study, we analyzed the bacterial flora of feces in a group of 0.4 Shiba Inu dogs aged 13.9 to 43 years raised in the same environment. As a result, it was found that the number of bacteria with a low abundance ratio in the intestine decreased with aging, that is, the diversity of the bacterial flora fluctuated with aging. In particular, it was found that the number of closely related bacteria of Absiella dolichum, which is a bacterium detected in human age-related weakness, increases with age in dogs.

In recent years, there have been research reports that different bacterial species cooperate with each other in the intestinal flora, so we also investigated which bacteria cooperate with each other.By calculating the variation pattern of each bacterium with aging by co-variation network analysis, it became clear that the bacterial group that changes with aging may cooperate.

From this research result, it was shown that the intestinal flora changes with age in dogs, and it is necessary to consider age as a concomitant factor in analyzing the relationship between the disease and the intestinal flora. rice field. This research group is said to be engaged in research aimed at discovering bacteria that suppress allergic diseases in pets and humans, and will reflect this result in order to narrow down allergic-suppressing bacteria from canine flora analysis in the future. I'm going to let you.
