The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Miyazaki will introduce a ``Miyazaki Prefecture employment applicant quota'' in the school recommendation-based selection process starting from the 2025 entrance examination. We will develop students who are motivated to find employment in Miyazaki Prefecture in the future and contribute to the development of the region as engineering personnel.

In the ``Miyazaki Prefecture Employment Application Slot'', we will recruit 20 people from the general studies category and 14 people from the specialized departments (industry, commerce, etc.) and general studies categories for each program. Applications are scheduled for early November, entrance exams are scheduled for late November, and results are announced in early December. Selection will be made based on recommendations from high schools and the results of a document review, interview, short essay, and written test (mathematics).

For students admitted under the ``Miyazaki Prefecture employment quota'', we implement the ``SPARC Education Program'' under the education and employment support provided by the ``Faculty of Engineering Regional Activities Plan,'' allowing them to participate in internships and interact with people around them. Students will acquire the ability to solve regional issues through lectures that develop their coordination skills to advance collaboration. In addition, in order to get to know local companies from an early stage after enrolling and form an image of working in the area, we offer a variety of career education events, including lectures by company instructors and exchange events with companies.

Collaboration with local businesses is essential for these efforts, and the ``Faculty of Engineering Hinata Cheer Team'' is a powerful ally that supports this effort. With the cooperation of Miyazaki Prefecture, it was formed by the University of Miyazaki Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association and 89 local companies. We support engineering students who are motivated to play an active role in the local community in the future by dispatching lecturers to lectures, factory tours, and accepting internships.

In addition, companies participating in the Hinata Cheer Group will provide their own incentives, such as scholarship return support and exemption from the first interview for employment through participation in internships. Promote employment.

Regional quotas are established at universities, such as in the Faculty of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, and Education, and there are also examples of public universities setting prefectural quotas, including for liberal arts faculties.

The science and engineering departments within the prefecture include the University of Aizu's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with 48 students (out of 240 students), Suwa Tokyo University of Science, Faculty of Engineering, with 52 students (out of 300 students), Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science, Faculty of Engineering, 24 students (out of 300 students), and Kochi University of Technology, School of Science and Technology. There are 5 students (out of 100) in the academic group, but all of them are for people from within the prefecture and are not available for employment.
