What is the 18-year-old youth thinking and thinking? The Nippon Foundation has been conducting an awareness survey targeting 18-year-olds since October 2018. In the 10rd survey conducted in late February 2020, "disparity society" was taken up.

72.3% of the respondents answered, "I think the disparity is widening worldwide," and 57.6% answered, "I feel an economic disparity in my daily life."The reasons for this are "the number of branded clothes and game software, etc." and "because the amount and frequency of eating out is less than that of friends around me," and so on. There were many answers. The most common cause of widening disparities was “expansion of low-wage services” at 37.1%.

Next, when asked what the inequality would be in the future, 61.1% of the respondents answered that they would "widen further", which was much higher than 4.4% that "shrinked".Reasons for the widening disparity include "there are differences in the family environment and individual qualities" and "because capitalism is a competitive society."On the other hand, as measures required by those who can correct the disparity, "review of monetary policy such as tax system" and "expansion of education and vocational training" were mentioned.

Regarding the uneven distribution of wealth in the world, 33.5% answered that it was "unavoidable" and 26.7% answered that it was a "problem". The reason for those who answered "it can't be helped" is due to individual efforts and talents, such as "I think that wealthy people are the result of contributing to society" and "Earners are making reasonable efforts". The opinion that it was the result of being born was conspicuous. Also, as long as it is capitalism, there are many contents that it is unavoidable that economic disparity will be created.
On the other hand, there are many opinions that the reason for answering "it is a problem" is that it should be redistributed, such as "I think that there is so much difference that we should distribute some wealth to the poor in some way." ..There were also concerns that wealth would be concentrated and a vicious cycle would be created in which the disparity would widen, such as "because if wealth is concentrated, it will not circulate well and the disparity will widen."
