The Unayama Laboratory of the Institute of Economic Research, Kyoto University will start a new household income and expenditure survey project from December 2020, 12, using the financial data platform "Moneytree LINK *" of Moneytree Co., Ltd.Attempts to utilize the technology for automatically collecting household income and expenditure information in the data collection system, which is indispensable for household income and expenditure surveys, for academic research are at the forefront internationally and will be the first initiative in Japan.

 Although the household income and expenditure is one of the most important components in considering the current Japanese economy, it is widely known that it is difficult to investigate.However, with this collaboration, it will be possible to automatically collect deposits and withdrawals from bank accounts and credit card usage history with the consent of individuals.By reducing the burden on individual research cooperation, we will push the limits of conventional official statistics using questionnaires and household accounts, and aim to build and realize unprecedented financial data.This survey will be conducted with the consent of users of the asset management application "Moneytree" that meets certain conditions, with the support of the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

* "Moneytree LINK" provides an API that aggregates financial data of more than 2,700 domestic bank accounts, credit cards, e-commerce, mileage point cards, and securities accounts.
