The concept of this book targeted at high school students

This book focuses on high school students and sets a low threshold to make it more familiar to teens.The materials handled are things that are familiar to high school students (dating with him / her, SNS, read through, school rules, club activities) and problems that are familiar to high school students (bullying, fights with friends, black bytes, 10-year-old election rights). I chose and picked up such things.
However, even if the hurdle at the entrance is low, the content itself is not easy.Recently, there seems to be a tendency that "difficult = not interesting" and "many characters = difficult to read", but the writing team has set and maintained the level that high school students want to read.Even in the sense of contributing to society by transmitting from the university, the concept of this book is to appeal to the fundamental idea of ​​the law that supports it by using familiar materials as an entrance without lowering the level as a book.

With this concept in mind, this book consists of 12 chapters.The introductory chapter at the beginning touches on "what is law", and the final chapter on the closing touches on "what is law", which plays the role of introducing and summarizing this chapter.In Chapters 1 to 10 of this chapter, nine faculty members of the Faculty of Law of our university are in charge of each chapter, and approach familiar concrete cases as materials in their respective specialized fields.Through examinations from various perspectives such as legislative / policy perspectives, interpretive perspectives, and comparative equilibrium perspectives, we show the significance and common understanding that law is "a discipline that explores the rules that society should have." ..

Structure of this book

The content is not a how-to book that incorporates legal knowledge, but the idea of ​​legal things.The basis of legal thinking, such as what legally binding brings, adjustment when rights and interests conflict, how penalties should be, a system for governing organizations such as countries and companies, and the idea of ​​proper dispute settlement procedures The emphasis is on digging.
In addition, this book does not provide answers for all, and there are many places where it ends with a question.We want young readers to question various issues, investigate and think for themselves, rather than accepting the knowledge they are given.In addition, "Research Themes" and "Book Guides" have been set at the end of each chapter so that they can be used voluntarily as a tool to delve deeper into the theme (message) of each chapter.

As a future development, I would like to incorporate this book into the subject books of Chuo University's affiliated high school and utilize it as a part of the career education program through collaboration between high school and university.Furthermore, if possible, we are also considering implementing a series of programs such as "reading this book + submitting reports on research subjects + lectures by university faculty members" in a high school-university collaborative education.I have high expectations for the opinions and impressions of high school students through the programs that use this book.

So far, I have described the purpose, outline, and characteristics of this book, but I would like to confess that there were various hardships (?) During the writing.
Although we, the writing team, usually interact with young students in lectures, it seems that there were some parts that we could not fully grasp the subtle sense of modern high school students ... (bitter smile).For example, the word "Ria Mitsuru" is old even with just one word, and the seemingly rigid word "read (through)" is completely ant. ..Therefore, the editor of the university press often puts a deficit in the manuscript.Editors and writers sometimes gathered to show the manuscript, point out questions, exchange opinions and make corrections, and ask high school teachers for advice and advice.The editor played a central role in discussing the cover design and obi phrases with various people.
In this way, with the help of many people, we were able to successfully publish "Introduction to Law from High School Students".In that sense, it is by no means a book created solely by the power of the author.We would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved in the publication of this book.
