This competition aims to discover and nurture new talents of the younger generation by honoring Masaharu Fuji, a writer from Tokushima who is also known for writing prefectural songs.The subject is an individual novel work published in a literary club magazine by high school students nationwide.

Masaharu Fuji National High School Literary Award is a requirement for application for "field-specific entrance examinations (arts, media, dance fields)".
Those who take the entrance examination with this award, pass the Japanese literature department, and then enroll will receive a "special scholarship in the field of arts, media, and dance" during their enrollment.
