The Gakkan for Integrated Survival (Shishukan) is a XNUMX-year integrated doctoral program in which students study "Integrated Survival Studies". "Integrated Survival Studies" is a comprehensive study that aims to solve social issues through an approach that integrates the humanities and sciences, centering on the "survival of humankind and the global community."

We face global issues such as environmental problems, population problems, and pandemics that threaten the world and humankind, as well as issues related to the future survival of life, the environment, society, industry, and civilization.At the Institute for Integrated Survival, we will overcome the barriers of the academic system in order to solve these problems.In this research environment, we aim to produce Ph.D. human resources who have a bird's-eye view, who are rich in logical thinking and firm willpower, and who pursue social implementation of solutions to problems.

The name of the graduate school, Shishukan, was named after the three stages of the pursuit of wisdom in Buddhism: listening, thinking, and cultivating.In other words, we hope to be a place of learning where students from various fields can "listen" to knowledge, "think" about it, and "master" their studies by implementing them in society. Nagoya University and others have discovered the mechanism of egg polarity in which both female and male medaka fish prepare to produce eggs.
