The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) has decided on three new research summaries and research areas in 28 in the integrated research (ERATO) of the Strategic Creative Research Promotion Project.

This project aims to promote basic research that is important to the country and to create seeds of innovative technology based on new scientific knowledge.Based on the strategic goals set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the research areas that JST should promote and their managers (research supervisors) are selected. The research period will be about 5 years, and the total research cost will be up to about 12 billion yen. Under the supervision of each research, young researchers will be brought together to carry out original research. This time, there are 1394 candidates. A total of 3 cases in 3 fields were decided. The contents are as follows.

・ Professor Yasunobu Nakamura, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo. His research area is macroscopic quantum machines. The strategic goal is "development of new physical properties and information science frontiers by advanced control of quantum states".We aim to develop technology related to superconducting qubits and quantum circuits using them, and to establish highly accurate quantum state control / observation technology.

・ The research supervisor is Keiji Numata, Team Leader, RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science. The research area is the organelle reaction cluster. The strategic goal is "construction of an environment-adaptive plant design system that secures food stability in the era of climate change."We aim to establish techniques for manipulating and modifying organelles (organelles) in plant cells and to elucidate the transport and production of substances in organelles.

・ Research supervisor is Associate Professor Ichiro Hasoo, Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering, The University of Tokyo. His research area is meta-mathematical system design. The strategic goal is "construction of a model that mathematically describes and elucidates various phenomena in which the principles and rules of control in society are not clear."By applying software science to conventional manufacturing technology, we aim to establish a mathematical theoretical system related to the construction of software tools that support the development of industrial products from multiple perspectives.
