Undergraduate students who have just entered the FLY Program apply for it and take a one-year special leave period.It is a mechanism for self-education to grow oneself by conducting long-term social experience activities such as volunteer activities, work experience activities, and international exchange activities in places other than the University of Tokyo. The "program" does not mean that the university creates and provides a learning menu, but the content is determined by the student's own judgment.

　At universities in Europe and the United States, a mechanism called a "gap year" that allows such "detours" has been established before enrollment, and the University of Tokyo's FLY Program is a leading initiative in Japan. It will be one of the attempts.

　Students' efforts under the FLY Program vary, with some students experiencing the real stage and musicals while studying languages ​​and theater in London, while others "inherit the memories of a tragic war and prevent weathering" and "past." With the theme of "considering how the war is affecting the current international relations," we visited battlefields such as Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Okinawa, South Korea, and Hawaii, and actually interviewed former special attackers and war-experienced people. Some students went there.
