Chiba Institute of Technology Planetary Exploration Research Center utilizes know-how such as balloon flight simulation technology for collecting microorganisms in the stratosphere, and Lawson Co., Ltd. released "Karaage Kun Black Hole Flavor (Black Pepper)" in December 2017. Cooperated in the production of PR videos in the stratosphere. For the first time in the world, "Karaage-kun" reached the stratosphere.

Since the drop point changes daily due to the influence of the wind direction and speed of the upper atmosphere, it is extremely difficult to collect the shooting data safely because it falls from the stratosphere when shooting PR videos. The balloon flight simulation technology of the Planetary Exploration Research Center of Chiba Institute of Technology and the communication technology that accurately transmits position information played a role in this.Since 2016, the Chiba Institute of Technology Planetary Exploration Research Center has been conducting experiments to raise balloons to the stratosphere in Mongolia and collect cosmic dust flying from space. Has been successfully recovered on land.

This PR video shooting experiment was conducted in September 2017 near Terelj National Park on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. When you shoot a balloon equipped with Karaage-kun's character plush toy, the balloon reaches the stratosphere. The balloon flight simulation and communication equipment owned by the Planetary Exploration Research Center of Chiba Institute of Technology operated normally, and successfully landed and recovered the target point of Karaage-kun.

In this experiment, we also succeeded in shooting a global image with the 360-degree camera "Theta" provided by Ricoh IT Solutions Co., Ltd. and a high-definition image with an action camera.I was able to capture the images of Karaage-kun and the outer edge of the earth at the same time. The video taken this time can be viewed on the website of Lawson Co., Ltd.

Karaage Kun Black Hole Aji (Black Pepper) won the Grand Prix of "Karaage Kun Space I Want to Eat" in a recruitment project conducted by Lawson with the goal of being certified as "Space Japanese Food" in 2020.
