The Nippon Foundation has started a questionnaire survey, "18-year-old Awareness Survey," which continuously examines the consciousness of 18-year-olds, such as what they think and what they think.

The revised Public Offices Election Act of 2015 reduced the age of voting rights from 20 to 18 years old, and from the 2016 Upper House election, "18 to 19 years old" participated in the voting.Furthermore, with the revision of the Civil Code, the adult age will change to 2022 years old in April 4.In response to these changes in the social environment surrounding the 18-year-old, the Nippon Foundation continuously investigates how the next-generation 18-year-old thinks and is aware of politics, society, work, family, friends, and romance. I will do it. By knowing the age of 18 widely, it will be useful for creating a new society, and the aim is to reflect the survey results in the business of the Nippon Foundation.

The survey is scheduled to be conducted twice a month from October 2018 to March 10, for a total of 2019 surveys. Each time, we set one theme from various perspectives such as "media," "sexual love," "work," and "social contribution," and investigate and disseminate the results to society.

The first theme is "1-year-old adult". The survey was conducted from September 18th (Friday) to 2018th (Sunday), 9, and 7 respondents were obtained from men and women aged 9 to 17 years nationwide.According to the survey, 19% of 800-year-olds feel that they are "children".Regarding the reduction of the adult age to 18 years old, 62.9% said that they were in favor of it, and said that they could be aware of themselves as adults and that they would develop a sense of responsibility. On the other hand, there were many opinions that "opposition" "the number of irresponsible adults is likely to increase" and "there are many people who are not aware of themselves as adults".From these facts, it can be said that many 18-year-olds consider "awareness as an adult" and "responsible behavior" to be the dividing line between "adults".

Also, when asked what they think it is okay to apply at the age of 18, regardless of whether it can be done or not under the current law, "election rights" and "juvenile law (names and photos will be published if you commit a crime)". More than half of the respondents answered, "You can make a passport valid for 10 years," "Request for gender change," and "Marriage without parental consent."On the other hand, the top five respondents who answered that they were still early at the age of 18 were "smoking," "obligation to join the national pension," "can do public gambling," "drinking," and "can do pachinko and pachislot."
