There were eight applications from 2023 schools nationwide for the 17 humanities and social sciences network-type graduate school construction project, which was publicly offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.It is a project to build a network-type education and research system and create a new graduate school education model for the humanities and social sciences.
According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ibaraki University, Utsunomiya University, and Tokiwa University have applied for the Diversity Management Regional Co-Creation Leader Degree Program, while Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Tsukuba University, and Sophia University have applied for the English Education Initiative Program. Kanazawa University, Toyama University, Public Komatsu University, and Fukui Prefectural University's "Regional Comprehensive Knowledge Human Resource Development Network-type Graduate Program", Ryukoku University, University of the Ryukyus, Kyoto Bunkyo University's "Social Innovation Human Resource Development Program", etc.
This project started in 2023 based on the interim report on the direction of graduate school education reform discussed by the Graduate School Subcommittee of the Central Council for Education.The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will provide financial support up to 6 million yen per year for a maximum of 4,000 years.The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science will review the application and announce the results around the end of August.
